I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently (surprise surprise) and thought I’d share some of my thoughts here with you guys. And not just my thoughts, but also what I believe. I hope you enjoy reading.
I believe that I’ve been given this platform – my blog and 1weekmary – to encourage, inspire and motivate people. The fact that I have this platform regardless of how many or how little of you read my posts means I have to use it for good. I believe I have a duty to use it for good, to inspire people, to encourage people. And I also feel like as today’s generation are spending so much time online, I have a duty to the younger generation, too, that may come across my blog. And that duty is not only to inspire and encourage them, but also to guide them when I’m able to. Like, I love writing lifestyle posts and deep posts. I write them because I love writing them, but also in the hope that someone or some people can take away something positive from those posts. For example, the younger generation may be so desperate to fit in, therefore as someone who is different and will always be different, I believe I have a duty to highlight that and to let them know it’s okay not to fit in and it’s okay to be different. You get what I mean?
I believe that everything happens for a reason. Allah knows every single thing that has happened, that is happening and that is going to happen. And Allah has planned it all to happen in the way that it will subhanallah. There’s absolutely nothing we can do to change that so all we can do is have faith in Allah’s plan and the belief that everything is happening the way that it’s supposed to. And Allah knows what’s best for us.
I believe – and this is something I only got my head around today – I believe that when we feel like we need someone to talk to, when we feel like we need to get something off our chest, when we wish there was someone in our lives that we could tell absolutely anything, that’s Allah’s way of calling us towards Him. Because we can tell Allah absolutely anything, Allah will listen to us and help us and we need Him. It makes so so much sense when you think about it. We’re being called closer to Him because we wish we could tell someone absolutely everything and anything and the One we can tell genuinely everything and anything is Allah.
I believe we’re tested in this life. All the difficult times we go through, all the trials we face are tests to see how we deal with them. Again, to bring us closer to Allah. Allah tests those He loves, and He calls us towards him. To talk to Him. And how many times we ignore and act wrongly in these times. Astagfirullah. We have to move towards Allah, we have to pass these tests. Because as Muslims we believe life is a test anyway. And how can we pass the test that is life when we can’t even pass these smaller tests? Allah never burdens a soul beyond which it can bare; no matter how hard your struggle is, Allah knows you can cope with it, you’re strong enough to overcome it, but we can’t do anything without the help of Allah. Btw these reminders are for myself first, as well as all of you, because we all need them (myself included) and we need to act on them (again, myself included).
I believe intention is important. We do things all the time, and our actions may be important, but the reason why we do these things is equally as important. And I mean our real genuine intentions, not what we might tell people.
I believe that working in retail means in the few seconds or minutes spent with each customer, there’s the ability to brighten their day. Now that may sound strange, but what I mean is that if you’re friendly and bubbly with each customer and provide a genuinely good service, that has the potential to mould their day, especially if it’s at the start of the day. Or if someone’s having a bad day, you can wish them well or at least try to put a smile on their face. It’s little things like this that can actually help. For example, have you ever been to a shop/restaurant and the person serving you has just been so nice that you’ve left feeling great or maybe you’ve had a bit of a laugh and they’ve put a smile on your face? By working in retail and working alongside customers, retail workers also have the potential to do that, to try to brighten people’s day. In simple words, without the waffle, I believe I have to give a good service and be someone that the customer would want to come back to. And the best part about all that is you can actually have a good time when you’re chatting away with the customers, too, tbh.
I believe what you see online isn’t real. It’s an edited version. Bloggers, vloggers, influencers, instagrammers only show you what they want you to see. No-one shows you their darkest times, their struggles, it’s impossible to genuinely know someone simply by what you see online, because it’s an edited version. Pictures, edited. Blog posts, edited. Videos, edited. Instagram, edited. That’s why it’s important not to compare ourselves and our lives to those we see online, because we only see their best bits, and we see the edited versions. Like, no matter how hard a blogger/vlogger may try to share as much as possible, you’re still only seeing specific parts of their lives, and I’m sure they’d agree on this one. You only see a fraction of their lives, not the ins and outs.
I believe a lot of things. I believe when we’re able to, we have to try to be the tiniest bit of light in what could be someone’s otherwise darkest days. I believe it’s absolutely amazing to be different and to not fit in. I believe it’s okay to talk about your feelings and to cry. I believe everyone is going through their own struggles, sometimes in silence, and we often forget this simply because we can’t see it with our own eyes. I believe the happiest person in the room, the one that’s always laughing, might not always be happy like they seem. I believe looks can be, and are, deceiving. And I believe a whole lot more.
Like I said, I believe everything happens for a reason and that every single thing plays out the way that it’s supposed to. Having said that, we do have to make efforts and can’t just be lazy and expect progress to happen out of the blue. But yeah, I believe everyone is placed in specific places, everyone you meet in your life you meet for a reason, everyone whose paths are aligned with yours in life, are for a reason.
And that’s all for now, thank you so much for reading! I’d love to know your thoughts so please do share in the comments below.
Until next time,
1 Week Mary x
