So I’m sat here in front of the trees, watching the sky move and admiring the nature around me. The leaves move, they’re not still or 2d, they move. These days we’re always thinking about how instagrammable things are, we never just look around and appreciate and marvel at Allah’s creation Subhanallah it’s so stunning.
Even this street that I walk past every single time I leave the house, I didn’t realise what it looked like. I didn’t notice how tall the trees have gotten and how many trees there are. They’ve grown. Or have they? I wouldn’t know because I can’t remember the last time I just looked up and really had a look at them.
Even when we do see something it’s to post on Instagram, it’s all about the likes & the followers & the popularity & for those who use Instagram for work, it’s all about work work work. We don’t just take a step back and appreciate what we have around us. And we should do that more often. Even whilst sat here, I’m thinking ooh I should wait until sunset comes, so – you guessed it – I can take a picture for Instagram.
And even after writing this whole thing, I started taking pictures for Instagram. It’s sad that this is what it’s come to. Remember the days when we didn’t have to post on Instagram or where we didn’t have to use filters/edit pictures. Even the days where we used to be able to take selfies and actually like them without filters – they’re gone. These days that’s just not possible anymore, we’ve become so obsessed with filters and editing and creating perfect visual aesthetics that we don’t just appreciate the beauty of what’s around us anymore. And that’s really sad.
