1 WEEK TO MASTER PINTEREST

february-2

Everyone loves Pinterest, right? Well, those that have it seem to, so a couple of weeks ago, I thought I’d see what all of the fuss was about and actually make and use Pinterest (emphasis on the actually using it). What better time to whip out a 1 Weeker, eh? Well, that’s what you’re getting today – enjoy!

Day 1

I became obsessed. I literally spent the whole day creating boards and pinning things, as well as figuring out how I could ‘break through’ on Pinterest. I’m loving it! I wasn’t entirely sure how to use it, but I think I’ve gotten the hang of it. Seriously though, it’s been a fun day of wanderlust but it does get addicting. I guess that everything is addicting at first when it’s still a novelty though, let’s see how long this lasts! I’ve been inspired to ‘spruce’ (I’m sorry) my room up a little, so I’ll let you know when (if) that happens.

Day 2

I woke up early in the morning (okay, really I couldn’t sleep) and made a coffee face scrub, then tried doing some Pinterest-y stuff in real life. I also created some more boards and today I realised that gaining followers on Pinterest is hard. I’ve made it my goal to be ‘Pinterest goals’ at least once – I want to take at least one Pinterest worthy picture that everyone will love, okay. Is that a crime?! I’ve expanded my range from looking at bedroom inspiration and makeup (yesterday) to hair and desserts today. Today I kinda realised how pointless Pinterest was but then I loved it again.

Day 3

Another day, another Pin. Lol. Today I managed to stick a ‘save’ button to some blog pictures & a Pinterest button to my blog. I also added a movie board filled with movie stuff (basically Harry Potter), aswell as boards for Winter & Pretty things, too. Again, I was on it most of the day just pinning & liking – I still don’t get what the ‘like button’ is for – surely if you like something then you save it? Having said that, I do actually end up liking things when I don’t have a specific board they’d fit on, but they look too nice to just let go. Is that what it’s supposed to be for? I’ve started pinning and saving some original stuff now, instead of just re-pinning things that are already on Pinterest. If I had a dime for every time I used the word ‘pin’… Ooh, I also got my first view on my blog that came from Pinterest today! Whooooop.

Day 4

Today I had a wedding, so actually had something to do and didn’t pin that much. I pinned some more Harry Potter stuff though (mainly Fred and George Weasley Tumblr stuff that will make you want to bawl your eyes out), and today’s the first day I didn’t add any more boards. I pinned some gorgeous hair and makeup looks today, and am trying to figure out what else there is to do to ‘master’ Pinterest. Then again, I still don’t get the comments bit and haven’t sent any messages. I keep coming across holding contests as being a way of gaining followers on Pinterest, but I have abs no idea what/how to do that. Oooh, I tried a makeup cleaner hack today from Pinterest and it actually worked, so that was definitely a plus. I uploaded some more pictures and saved a picture from my Instagram to my Pinterest today, too. Well, today wasn’t that interesting, so have a look at this instead.

Day 5

Today I made a Banksy board & had a look at some of his art, it’s just so thought-provoking. I also spent sooo long trying to get some Pinterest worthy pictures – bear with me guys, I’m stilll kinda new to all this photography malarkey! The picture below is one of my absolute favourite things I’ve seen on Pinterest yet.

Day 6

Today is the day. Today I got bored of Pinterest. The novelty has definitely worn off & there are just similar/the same pictures coming up time and time again. I did request to join a blogger’s Pinterest board today, so that might get interesting. Other than that, today I didn’t pin much, & focused on my essay instead.

And that was my first week using Pinterest! As you can see, I fell in love with it straight away, but I think I overused it and by the end of the week, I was kinda sick of seeing the same/similar things coming up as ‘suggestions’ – I guess you can have too much of a good thing when it comes to Pinterest. I’m still using it now, but a lot less than I was before – I guess the novelty has worn off. *Sigh*. Then again, I doubt it was made to be used 24/7…or maybe it was.

  1. I do love a bit of Pinterest! I definitely don’t use it as often as other platforms but it’s so good for recipes, crafts etc. I do have moments when I see pictures of really nicely decorated living rooms, bedrooms etc. and it really makes me want to have my room like it. So it’s good for inspiration. One of those platforms where it’s a now and then kinda thing!

  2. I’m obsessed with pinterest too, they just have everything imaginable on there. I love how one thing will lead you to another and before you know it hours of your life have passed on by LOL #storyofmylife. But its honestly great i use it for inspiration on everything I need! So glad you’ve discovered pinterest!

  3. I’ve had pinterest for a while now but don’t think I truly get it- I use it as a place to store ideas and to pin things to lust lists from different websites, kinda like a ‘saved items’- but I don’t really use it for my blog much purely because I have no idea how?!

  4. This was a really interesting post! I love a bit of Pinterest, and have recently been using it a lot! But like you said, I don’t really get it! I use it for inspiration or for things that make me happy, but don’t understand how to use it for my blog! Nor do I gain much following from it! X
